I’ve been an engagement photographer for a long time now, but being new to Louisiana, shooting in the swamp was a first for me!

When I first spoke with Karla on the phone I instantly liked her. She has this energy about her, just full of enthusiasm and passion for life. And let me tell you, the woman knows EXACTLY what she wants. She had so many ideas, and a definite vision for what she wanted out of her engagement photography. I was instantly ALL-IN.

The best part about all of her ideas, was that she wanted to be completely true to herself and her soon to be husband. They live on Lake Maurepas, and the swamp is where they love to be. From the boat ride, to the jet-ski’s, and the sweet sunflower tribute to her mother, all the way up to the grand finale, which ended up being Karla floating in the water in a wedding gown long after the sun had already set. This session was all about celebrating their love, in the place that they love, in their own unique style.

They are sneaking off to Antigua to get married, but I cannot wait to document their wedding reception in a few weeks!

“Keep walking through the storm, your rainbow is waiting on the other side.”

The icing on the cake was, no questions asked, THAT RAINBOW! You see, the weather called for rain all day. I was just hoping for a break in the drizzle so we could make the boat ride out to their “spot”. We took a leap of faith and headed out, only to see the sun break through the clouds! We were completely elated. And then the most miraculous thing happened, and that rainbow appeared in the PERFECT spot.
